Climate

It’s alpine, but the characteristics are not uniform. The two main cities (Trento and Bozen) are characterized by a high thermal excursion: Bozen, in particular, is one of the hottest cities in Italy as the temperature can go beyond 35°C during summer; during winter it can reach -5°C.

For the rest it really depends on the conformation of the different valleys. Val Pusteria (where Brunek and Dublach are located) for example is quite cold even during summer.

Food Specialities

  • First and Second Courses of the Trentine cuisine: tortel di patate, strozzapreti, spaeztle, canederli/Knödeln; carne salada, luganega;
  • First and Second Courses of the South-Tyroler cuisine: Knödeln, Spätzle, Tirtlen, Schlutzkrapfen; Speck, Wurstel Meraner;
  • Cheeses: Casolet, Puzzone di Moena, Vezzena in Trentino; Stanga di Dobbiaco, Hochpustertaler, Graukäse in South Tyrol;
  • Sweets: Strauben, Strudel, Zelten (which is the Trentine Christmas cake).

Wines

In Trentino: Casteller, Teroldego, Valdadige, Marzemino;

In South Tyrol: Santa Maddalena, Caldaro, Lagrein.
