#100ItalyFacts [day50]: today I wanted to celebrate the completion of the first half of my challenge by providing you with the most famous #incipit of #ItalianLiterature: the beginning of #DivinaCommedia by Dante. I chose it, because Dante wrote that he was midway upon his journey and so I thought it was appropriate for this occasion πŸ˜„ (he referred to the "journey of life", though!) #100ItalyFacts [day51]: #presepe is the reproduction of the scene of Jesus' #nativity which happened in peculiar circumnstances (according to the tradition, while on voyage, Jesus' parents were refused a room from various "hotels" and they had to find shelter in a cave when her mother was about to give birth). πŸ‘ͺ Presepe can have various forms: ❇ there's the so-called "presepe vivente", where real people re-enact the scene; ❇they use human-size statues to set up a big presepe in piazzas; ❇ in normal homes, families build a presepe of small dimensions with little statuettes. #100ItalyFacts [day52]: among the most hilarious #souvenirs that you can find in #Italy -apart from silly magnets with a breast of Juliet (Verona) and with the nether regions of the David (Florence) – there is the infamous can that contains "air of Naples". 🌬🌫 Apparently it all started like a joke: after WWII Gennaro Ciaravolo, a man from Naples, started to claim that he had sold cans of "air of Naples" to American soldiers. I’m having Christmas in Roma and here it’s all about the looong sea-food dinner on the 24th, which is the best possible for my taste. πŸ˜€ The weirdest thing for me is the tombola at 1 am though, for real money, with tangerine peel to cover the numbers. Won one too. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ We came home from the visit almost at 5 am.

    Napoli air is fun too. I bet American are buying it like crazy!

      LOL at the tombola at 1am and coming home at 5am πŸ˜‚ Here tombola is something you play on New Year’s Day, though.

      Yes, Dec. 26th is holiday too, as it is St. Stephan’s Day. Stephan was officially the first Christian martyr, so in this day we remember him and all the other Christian martyrs.

        Yes, it’s not like we celebrate double Christmas (even if we could be capable of something like this πŸ˜‚), it’s actually another feast day.
